Most of my clients – possibly including yourself – use a hair dryer. If you’re going to invest in any hair tool, invest in a good hair dryer.

But how do you choose the right one?

When considering a new hair dryer the first thing to look for is the wattage. A rule-of-thumb — the higher the wattage, the more heat and airflow power the dryer will produce. A good safe wattage to start with for most people is 1750 watts.

The second thing to look for is what hair dryer body fits you: ceramic, ionic hair, tourmaline, or titanium.

Ceramic hair dryers emit non-damaging infrared heat, which dries the hair gently for added heat protection.

Ionic hair dryers work by transferring negative ions to the hair, which attracts away the positive ions in water to help the hair dry faster – great if frizz control is your main hair concern.

Tourmaline hair dryers emit infrared heat and negative ions, making the heat much gentler on the hair during styling for a shinier and less frizzy finish.

Titanium hair dryers output a steady temperature and dry your hair faster, making them excellent for quick styling. However, because they quickly heat your hair, titanium hair dryers can damage it.

Finally, always use a nozzle attachment because it concentrates the air flow into a smaller area, which helps with drying your hair twice as fast and leaves your hair shiny and frizz-free — meaning extra sleep for YOU!

The belief you need to change shampoos because you have been using the same one for a long time is a myth.

Your shampoo will work the same – even if you’ve been using the same one for years. However, there could be a few hair changes that warrant shampoo-switching, for example:

  • If you get a new chemical service, consider a change.
  • As you age, your hair may require a new shampoo to address your changing body.
  • As the seasons change from hot (hair becomes oilier) to cold (hair becomes drier), it may be time to adjust your shampoo.

When you notice changes in your hair, consult with your hair stylist to make sure the shampoo you’re using fits your hair’s current needs.

If you continue using your favorite brush as it wears out, your hair will start getting damaged. The bristles start pulling your hair causing breakage, split ends and more flyaways.

To keep this from happening, replace your brush every eight to twelve months. The time depends on how rough you are on your brush and how often you clean it to remove product buildup.

When buying a new brush, look for one with boar bristles. It lasts longer and does not damage your hair like plastic bristles. Your brush stimulates your scalp and promotes better hair growth. Getting the best is worth the investment.

Remember to clean your brush at least once a week. The best way is to get a brush cleaner from the beauty supply store. If you need to clean your brush quickly and don’t have a brush cleaner, use a hard bristle toothbrush, warm water, and shampoo. Clean with the toothbrush, soak in the sink for five to ten minutes, dry, and you’re ready to brush for another week.

A great brush will help you maintain beautiful, shiny, and healthy hair.

Helping clients answer their questions

Our Client

No. It’s not about age when it comes to wearing any style of hair; it’s all about knowing what cut, color, and style will best fit your face shape, skin tone, eye color, lifestyle, and personality.

Consider our “Your Perfect 3D Fit Hair Consultation” to help decide the best style for you…. with it you will get the perfect hair design every time, at any age.

I suggest a 3 step process that will always get the thicker and fuller hair you’re looking for:

  1. Start with a professional stylist and haircut. I use my award winning Beverly Hills 3D hair cutting techniques, which can make fine hair look twice as thick and full. Hear from clients with a similar experience.
  2. Use a shampoo and conditioner designed for “volumizing” to plump up your hair cuticle. Here is a good option I recommend.
  3. The “icing on the cake,” use the right styling products.

This is probably the most common question of all. It’s a tough problem to solve without the expertise of your stylist.

In an effort to help and solve, I designed a station in the salon to look just like a home bathroom where I demonstrate with you how to style your hair like a pro using common household tools. This station creates a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere for clients to visualize their daily maintenance routine, which leads to better memories on how to perform and complete the pro style. 🙂

Furthermore, with your online membership you have access to guides, videos, and photos that can be viewed anytime showing you how to get and keep that great style everyday from your own bathroom!

It can be hard to explain using words only — try to make it visual by bringing pictures of the hairstyle and colors you are considering. The old saying “a picture is worth a 1000 words” rings true in this case. 🙂

Pictures are a great tool to open up the conversation and paint a clearer picture of your personal tastes.

Most of us are caring around a smart phone these days, so it’s a perfect tool to use to share your pictures with your stylist.

Yes. There is a really quick way to do a deep conditioning treatment for dry hair at home for a very low cost and excellent results.

  1. Put your regular conditioner on DRY hair.
  2. Allow it to sit in your dry hair for 15 minutes (Don’t be in the shower, yet.)
  3. After 15 minutes, step in the shower to rinse and then  shampoo and condition again.

When you step out of the shower, you’ll have shiny, great looking, healthy hair again! Try it — you’ll be a believer!
